Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Mucocort (M045A) is a self-absorbing, mucoadhesive intra-oral patch developed by Mucocort AB for the treatment of recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS), commonly known as mouth ulcers. Classified as a Class II medical device under the EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR), the patch works through a hygroscopic (moisture-absorbing) mechanism, adhering to the mucosal surface to form a physical shield over the ulcer. This barrier provides immediate and long-lasting pain relief by protecting the sensitive area from external stimuli and promotes faster healing. The product is currently in Phase III clinical trials in Sweden, with production managed by Aurena Laboratories AB.
