Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MukoUp is a sterile, non-pyrogenic 0.4% sodium hyaluronate solution specifically formulated for use as a submucosal lifting agent during gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures, such as endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) and endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD). Developed by Seikagaku Corporation, the product leverages the high viscoelasticity and water-retention properties of sodium hyaluronate to create a prominent and long-lasting submucosal cushion upon injection. This cushion physically separates the mucosal lesion from the underlying muscularis propria, providing a clear operative field and significantly reducing the risk of accidental perforation or thermal injury during the resection of polyps or early-stage carcinomas. Unlike physiological saline, which dissipates quickly, MukoUp maintains the elevation for an extended period, facilitating more complex and time-consuming endoscopic interventions.
