Multi-antigen CMV-Modified Vaccinia Ankara (CMV-MVA), also known as Triplex, is a recombinant viral vector vaccine designed to prevent or control human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) infection. The vaccine uses the Modified Vaccinia Ankara (MVA) virus as a vector to deliver multiple immunodominant antigens from HCMV—including glycoprotein B (gB), phosphoprotein 65 (pp65), and all five subunits of the envelope pentamer complex. This combination aims to stimulate both humoral and cellular immune responses against HCMV. The primary indications under investigation are prevention of HCMV disease in immunocompromised populations such as transplant recipients and people with HIV[2][5][7][9]. Clinical trials have demonstrated that this approach elicits robust neutralizing antibody production and polyfunctional T cell responses.
