A personalized, autologous, cell-based cancer vaccine composed of a patient's own monocyte-derived dendritic cells loaded with five immunogenic peptide epitopes derived from the folate receptor alpha (FRα) protein. The purpose of this therapy is to stimulate the immune system—specifically T-cell and antibody responses—against tumor cells that overexpress FRα. This approach has been studied primarily in ovarian cancer patients and has demonstrated safety as well as induction of antigen-specific Th1, Th17, and antibody responses associated with prolonged recurrence-free survival.
