Overview

Multi-virus-specific T cells TI1 is an investigational allogeneic cellular immunotherapy developed by the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute. The therapy consists of donor-derived (allogeneic) T cells specifically trained to target antigens from four common opportunistic viruses: cytomegalovirus (CMV), Epstein–Barr virus (EBV), BK polyomavirus (BKV), and adenovirus (AdV). It is designed to restore virus-specific cellular immunity in immunocompromised patients, particularly adult solid organ transplant (SOT) recipients and pediatric hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) recipients who suffer from refractory or contraindicated viral infections. Administered via intravenous infusion, the therapy aims to provide a safe and effective alternative to conventional antiviral drugs, which are often limited by toxicity and the emergence of drug-resistant strains.
