MultiGeneAngio

MultiGeneAngio is a novel, autologous, cell-based therapy developed for the treatment of patients with peripheral artery disease and chronic critical limb ischemia. The product consists of transduced autologous venous smooth muscle cells and endothelial cells that are genetically modified to express angiogenic growth factors, specifically vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF165) and angiopoietin-1 (Ang-1). These modified cells are intended to promote therapeutic angiogenesis in ischemic tissues by enhancing blood vessel formation. MultiGeneAngio is administered as an intra-arterial infusion of a suspension containing equal amounts of these engineered cells. The therapy has undergone Phase I/IIA clinical trials in the US and Israel for peripheral artery disease, demonstrating feasibility and safety in early studies.
