Overview

Multilac Baby is a synbiotic dietary supplement formulated as oral drops for newborns, infants, and children. [3, 9] It contains the probiotic bacterial strain *Lactobacillus rhamnosus* GG and a prebiotic, fructooligosaccharides (FOS). [1, 2, 3] The FOS component serves as an energy source for the probiotic bacteria, promoting their growth and colonization in the intestines. [10] The product utilizes a microencapsulation technology (MURE®) to protect the live bacteria from stomach acid and digestive enzymes, ensuring their delivery to the gut in an active state. [3, 10] Multilac Baby is intended to support and restore the gut microbiome, particularly during and after antibiotic therapy, after viral infections, and to support the immune system. [1, 15] A clinical trial investigated its effects on crying behavior and fecal calprotectin levels in infants diagnosed with infantile colic.
