Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Multitrace-4 Neonatal** is a sterile intravenous trace-element formulation used as an additive to total parenteral nutrition in neonatal patients. Developed and marketed by American Regent, it contains four small-molecule mineral salts—zinc sulfate, cupric sulfate, manganese sulfate, and chromic chloride—to maintain plasma trace element concentrations and prevent depletion of endogenous stores and deficiency manifestations during prolonged parenteral nutrition. Its therapeutic effect is nutritional replacement rather than receptor-mediated pharmacology; the product is diluted into parenteral nutrition solutions and is not intended for direct undiluted injection.
