Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Multitrace-5 Concentrate is a fixed-combination **intravenous trace element replacement product** used as an additive to total parenteral nutrition solutions. Manufactured by American Regent, it contains zinc, copper, manganese, chromium, and selenium supplied as zinc sulfate heptahydrate, cupric sulfate, manganese sulfate, chromic chloride, and selenious acid, respectively. The product is a **small molecule** sterile concentrate that must be diluted before administration and is intended to maintain plasma concentrations of essential trace elements, replenish body stores, and prevent or treat trace element deficiency in patients receiving long-term parenteral nutrition rather than acting through a single discrete pharmacologic receptor target.
