Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A synthetic peptide-based prophylactic vaccine designed to elicit broad immune responses against diverse strains of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1). The formulation consists of branched synthetic peptides derived from the principal neutralizing domain (PND) of the gp120 envelope protein, representing sequences from multiple viral strains worldwide. This multivalent approach aims to address global sequence diversity and induce both humoral and cellular immunity, including neutralizing antibodies and T cell responses. The vaccine is intended for prevention of HIV infection in uninfected individuals. It was developed by the National Institute of Allergy & Infectious Diseases with United Biomedical as a collaborator[3][5].
