Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BioNet, in collaboration with a global consortium and supported by the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), is developing a multivalent mRNA vaccine prototype aimed at providing broad cross-protective immunity against various coronaviruses. The vaccine utilizes a "plug-and-play" mRNA platform to deliver multiple mRNA molecules that encode several target proteins (immunogens) from different SARS-CoV-2 variants and potentially other betacoronaviruses like MERS-CoV. These mRNA sequences are encapsulated in lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) for delivery. The project's goal is to create a broadly protective vaccine capable of addressing current SARS-CoV-2 variants and future pandemic threats, often referred to as "Disease X."
