Multivirus-specific T cells (VSTs) are an adoptive cell therapy developed by Acıbadem Labcell for the treatment and prevention of multiple viral infections in immunocompromised patients, particularly those who have undergone hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). This therapy involves the ex vivo expansion of donor-derived or patient-derived T cells that are primed to recognize specific antigens from several common opportunistic viruses, typically including Cytomegalovirus (CMV), Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), Adenovirus (AdV), BK virus (BKV), and Human Herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6). By infusing these specialized T cells, the patient's immune system is bolstered with a population of effector cells capable of identifying and eliminating virus-infected cells, thereby controlling viral replication and preventing the development of severe clinical diseases such as CMV retinitis, EBV-associated post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder (PTLD), or hemorrhagic cystitis.
