Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The live attenuated mumps vaccine (S79 strain) is a monovalent biological vaccine developed by Sinovac (Dalian) Vaccine Technology, a subsidiary of Sinovac Biotech. It is manufactured by inoculating primary chicken embryo cells with the S79 strain of the mumps virus, followed by cultivation, harvesting, and freeze-drying with a suitable stabilizer. Each 0.5 mL dose contains at least 10^3.7 CCID50 of the live attenuated virus. Approved for marketing in China in 2016, the vaccine is indicated for the active immunization against mumps in healthy infants and children. Clinical evaluations, including Phase 4 trials, have demonstrated its safety and immunogenicity as a booster dose in adolescents, both when administered alone and concomitantly with quadrivalent inactivated influenza vaccines.
