Overview
The mumps vaccine (genotype f), live, is a live-attenuated viral vaccine developed by Shanghai Qingsai Biotechnology Co., Ltd. for the prevention of mumps. While most traditional mumps vaccines utilize genotype A strains (such as Jeryl Lynn or S79), this candidate is specifically derived from a genotype F strain of the Mumps orthorubulavirus. Genotype F is the predominant wild-type lineage circulating in China, and the development of a genotype-matched vaccine is intended to provide enhanced immunogenicity and protective efficacy against local strains compared to traditional genotype A vaccines. The vaccine is administered via subcutaneous injection and works by inducing both humoral and cellular immune responses, stimulating the production of neutralizing antibodies against the mumps virus. It has undergone Phase 3 clinical testing in China to evaluate its safety and immunogenicity in susceptible populations.
