Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Murchita Tila Taila is a specialized Ayurvedic lipid-based formulation prepared by subjecting raw sesame oil (*Sesamum indicum*) to the *Murchana* process. This traditional pharmaceutical procedure involves boiling the oil with a specific set of herbs—including *Manjistha* (*Rubia cordifolia*), *Haridra* (*Curcuma longa*), and the *Triphala* fruits—to eliminate moisture, remove impurities (Amadosha), and neutralize the raw odor of the oil. The resulting product is a refined, stable, and therapeutically potent oil base characterized by improved color, aroma, and shelf life. In Ayurveda, it is considered essential for the preparation of medicated oils (*Siddha Taila*), as the process is believed to enhance the oil's ability to absorb and transport fat-soluble herbal active principles into the body's tissues. It possesses inherent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties derived from sesame oil lignans and the herbs used during processing.
