Murcidencel (formerly known as Canpuldencel-T, and widely known by the brand name DCVax-L) is an autologous, patient-specific dendritic cell vaccine developed by Northwest Biotherapeutics. It is prepared by isolating a patient's peripheral blood monocytes, differentiating them ex vivo into dendritic cells, and pulsing them with lysate derived from the patient's own resected tumor tissue. This process educates the dendritic cells to present a broad spectrum of tumor-associated antigens. Upon intradermal administration, these cells migrate to lymph nodes and activate cytotoxic T cells to target and destroy residual cancer cells. Murcidencel is primarily investigated for the treatment of newly diagnosed and recurrent glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) as an add-on to standard first-line therapies (surgery, radiotherapy, and temozolomide). It has also been evaluated in pediatric high-risk solid tumors (such as sarcomas and neuroblastoma) in clinical trials conducted by Masaryk University (originally under the name MyDendrix).
