Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Murine interleukin-2** is the mouse (murine) form of the cytokine interleukin-2 (IL-2), a naturally occurring signaling protein that plays a crucial role in the regulation and activation of immune responses, particularly the proliferation and activation of T cells and natural killer (NK) cells. In research and preclinical studies, murine IL-2 is frequently used to model and investigate immune responses in mice, since it specifically interacts with the mouse IL-2 receptor system and demonstrates distinct pharmacological properties compared to human IL-2[2]. Murine IL-2 has applications in basic immunology research, cancer immunotherapy studies in mouse models, and the development and testing of cytokine-based therapies targeting tumor growth and immune regulation[2][7]. It is not used as a pharmaceutical drug in humans.
