Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Murraya exotica extract** is a plant-derived preparation obtained from the leaves or other parts of *Murraya exotica*, a small evergreen shrub belonging to the Rutaceae family and sometimes referred to as "Chinese box."[7] The extract is rich in **coumarins**, **flavonoids** (especially polymethoxylated flavonoids), **alkaloids**, and **phytosterols**.[1][5][7] Major pharmacological activities reported include antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antihypertensive, anti-arthritic, antihyperlipidemic, antimicrobial, antitumor, and chondroprotective properties.[1][5][6][7] Mechanistically, the bioactive compounds act by interrupting pathways such as **STAT3/NF-κB/COX-2** and **EGFR**, downregulating EpCAM expression, inhibiting **NF-κB** and **ERK** signals, inhibiting the **EP/cAMP/PKA** and **miR-29a/Wnt/β-catenin** signaling activity, and upregulating **Foxo3a** expression; flavonoids can also inhibit nitric oxide production and oxidative stress.[5] Primary indications include **anti-inflammatory** treatments, management of **rheumatism**, **arthritic conditions**, **hyperlipidemia**, and possible utility in **cardiovascular diseases**.[1][5][6][7]
