Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MusCool Spray is a topical herbal analgesic and anti-inflammatory spray developed by the Chaopraya Abhaibhubejhr Hospital in Thailand. It is primarily formulated with the essential oil of *Zingiber cassumunar* (commonly known as Plai), a plant traditionally used in Thai medicine for musculoskeletal ailments. The active components of the oil, such as (E)-1-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)butadiene (DMPB), exert their therapeutic effects by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase (COX) and lipoxygenase (LOX) pathways, which reduces the production of pro-inflammatory prostaglandins and leukotrienes. The spray is designed to provide a cooling sensation and rapid localized relief for muscle pain, sprains, and inflammatory conditions without the need for vigorous rubbing.
