Mutagrip (Sanofi)

Mutagrip is a seasonal inactivated split-virion influenza vaccine developed and manufactured by Sanofi Pasteur. It is designed to provide active immunization against influenza by inducing the production of antibodies against the hemagglutinin (HA) and neuraminidase (NA) proteins of specific influenza virus strains, which are updated annually based on World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations. As a split vaccine, the virus is disrupted using a non-ionic detergent, such as Triton X-100, to reduce reactogenicity while maintaining immunogenicity. The University of Lausanne Hospitals has specifically investigated the vaccine's efficacy and safety in high-risk populations, such as the elderly and solid organ transplant recipients, evaluating the benefits of double-dose regimens compared to standard single-dose administration.
