A cancer vaccine composed of autologous dendritic cells that have been pulsed with a mutant p53 peptide. This approach is designed to stimulate the host immune system to mount a cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) response against tumor cells expressing mutant forms of the p53 protein, leading to tumor cell lysis. Many cancers overexpress mutant p53 proteins, which disrupt normal apoptosis regulation and promote abnormal cell proliferation. The vaccine aims to target these tumor-associated antigens and has been evaluated in clinical trials for safety and immunogenicity in various cancers, including breast cancer and melanoma[2][4][5]. The mechanism involves presenting the mutated p53 peptides via MHC molecules on dendritic cells to activate specific anti-tumor T-cell responses. Clinical studies have shown that this strategy is generally safe and can induce both immunologic responses and disease stabilization in some patients with advanced cancers[1][3][5]. It remains an investigational therapeutic approach under clinical evaluation.
