The mutant Tp53 cancer vaccine is a preclinical-stage mRNA-based therapeutic vaccine being developed by Flag Bio. It is designed to treat various cancers characterized by mutations in the TP53 gene, which encodes the p53 tumor suppressor protein. The vaccine utilizes mRNA technology to encode specific mutant p53 neoantigens. Upon administration, the mRNA is delivered into cells where it is translated into mutant p53 proteins; these proteins are then processed and presented as neoepitopes on the cell surface. This process is intended to stimulate the patient's immune system, particularly T-cells, to recognize and selectively attack tumor cells harboring these specific Tp53 mutations. By targeting the mutated form of p53, the vaccine aims to provide a highly specific immunotherapy for a wide range of Tp53-mutant tumors.
