Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Mutonpain is an injectable branded formulation of nalbuphine hydrochloride, a semisynthetic opioid analgesic with mixed agonist–antagonist activity at opioid receptors, used for the management of moderate to severe pain and as an adjunct to anesthesia. Nalbuphine acts predominantly as an agonist at kappa opioid receptors while exerting partial agonist or antagonist effects at mu opioid receptors, providing potent analgesia with a ceiling effect on respiratory depression and lower abuse potential compared with full mu agonists.[1][3][5][7][9][13] Mutonpain is supplied as a 10 mg/mL nalbuphine hydrochloride solution for parenteral administration and is marketed in Taiwan for hospital use.[4][6][8][12][13]
