Overview

mutRPL22 peptide is a tumor-specific neoantigen derived from a cancer-specific alternative splicing (AS) event in the RPL22 gene. Identified through a computational pipeline at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF), this peptide is characterized as a "public" neoantigen, meaning it is shared across multiple patients with gliomas, including low-grade glioma (LGG) and glioblastoma (GBM). The peptide is presented by common HLA haplotypes, specifically HLA-A*02:01, and has been shown to elicit CD8+ T-cell-mediated immune responses. It is being investigated as a target for T-cell receptor (TCR)-based therapies and cancer vaccines, with specific mutRPL22-reactive TCR clonotypes demonstrating immunogenic activation upon recognition of the HLA:ASN complex.
