Overview

MV-GFP is a recombinant, replication-competent oncolytic measles virus engineered to express green fluorescent protein (GFP) as a reporter gene. Derived from attenuated vaccine strains such as the Edmonston (MV-Edm) or Schwarz (MVSchw) strains, MV-GFP is widely utilized in preclinical research to visualize and monitor viral infection, replication, and cell-to-cell fusion (syncytia formation) in vitro and in vivo. The virus selectively infects and lyses cancer cells by binding to CD46, a membrane cofactor protein overexpressed on many tumor types, as well as CD150 (SLAM) and nectin-4. While primarily used as a laboratory tool and control comparator for targeted or armed oncolytic measles virus variants, MV-GFP has demonstrated potent antitumor efficacy in preclinical models of various malignancies, including breast cancer, glioblastoma, mesothelioma, and ovarian cancer.
