MV-LASV is a recombinant, live attenuated vaccine candidate developed for the prevention of Lassa fever. It utilizes a measles virus (Schwarz strain) vector engineered to express the glycoprotein complex (GPC) and nucleoprotein (NP) of Lassa virus, with a mutated exonuclease domain in NP to enhance safety. The vaccine is designed to induce immunity against Lassa virus by presenting its antigens via the established measles vaccine platform. MV-LASV has demonstrated an acceptable safety and tolerability profile in phase 1 clinical trials, with immunogenicity unaffected by pre-existing immunity to measles[2][3][5][7]. The primary indication is prophylaxis against Lassa fever infection.
