Overview

MV-s-NAP is an engineered oncolytic measles virus (MV), derived from the Edmonston vaccine strain, that has been modified to express a secreted form of the *Helicobacter pylori* neutrophil-activating protein (NAP). This therapeutic agent operates through a dual mechanism: direct viral oncolysis and potent immunomodulation. The virus selectively infects and replicates within tumor cells, typically utilizing receptors such as CD46 and Nectin-4 which are often overexpressed in malignancies, leading to direct cell lysis. Simultaneously, the expression of the NAP transgene recruits and activates neutrophils, monocytes, and dendritic cells to the tumor microenvironment. This inflammatory response promotes a Th1-type cytokine profile and enhances the systemic anti-tumor immune response. MV-s-NAP has shown significant promise in preclinical models for the treatment of solid tumors, including breast cancer and metastatic pleural effusions.
