MV130 is a sublingual bacterial vaccine composed of whole-cell heat-inactivated bacteria, designed to prevent recurrent respiratory tract infections (RTIs) and lower respiratory tract infections. It is classified as a trained immunity-based vaccine (TIbV), which induces trained immunity and provides non-specific protection against various respiratory pathogens. The formulation consists of approximately 90% selected Gram-positive strains (Staphylococcus epidermidis, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae) and 10% Gram-negative strains (Klebsiella pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis). MV130 is administered via the sublingual mucosa using a metered pump spray or as an intranasal suspension. Clinical studies have shown that MV130 reduces the frequency of recurrent RTIs in both adults and children at risk, including those with common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The drug is developed by Inmunotek[1][3][4][5].
