Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MVA-BN-EBV is a recombinant, replication-incompetent Modified Vaccinia Ankara-Bavarian Nordic (MVA-BN) vector-based vaccine developed by Bavarian Nordic for the prevention and treatment of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection. The vaccine is engineered to express multiple EBV antigens, including the envelope glycoproteins gp350, gH, and gL, which are essential for viral entry into B cells and epithelial cells, as well as T-cell antigens BZLF1, BRLF1 (as a BZLF1-BRLF1 fusion protein), and EBNA-3A. By targeting both humoral (neutralizing antibodies) and cellular (T-cell) immune responses, MVA-BN-EBV aims to provide comprehensive protection against EBV infection and associated diseases, such as infectious mononucleosis and EBV-related malignancies. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials.
