Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MVA-BN WEV is a prophylactic, trivalent vaccine candidate developed using the Modified Vaccinia Ankara - Bavarian Nordic (MVA-BN) platform. It is designed to provide active immunization against three equine encephalitis viruses—Western (WEEV), Eastern (EEEV), and Venezuelan (VEEV)—which are mosquito-borne alphaviruses capable of causing severe and potentially fatal neurological disease in humans. The vaccine encodes the envelope surface proteins of all three viruses to induce both humoral and cellular immune responses. Clinical studies have shown that it is well tolerated, immunogenic, and induces robust neutralizing antibody responses after two doses. There are currently no approved vaccines for these diseases in humans[1][2][8].
