MVA-EBO Z is a recombinant, replication-deficient, attenuated modified vaccinia Ankara (MVA) viral vector vaccine expressing the wild-type glycoprotein (GP) of the Zaire Mayinga strain of Ebola virus. It is designed to induce immune responses against the Ebola virus and has been evaluated both as a standalone immunization and as part of heterologous prime-boost regimens with other Ebola vaccines such as ChAd3-EBO-Z. The vaccine is manufactured using an immortalized duck cell line, which allows for scalable production. Clinical trials have demonstrated that MVA-EBO Z is safe, well-tolerated, and immunogenic in healthy adults in multiple countries. Its primary indication is prophylactic vaccination against infection by the Zaire ebolavirus species[1][3][7].
