Overview

MVA-mBN85B is an experimental recombinant viral vector vaccine developed by Bavarian Nordic for the prevention of measles. Utilizing the proprietary Modified Vaccinia Ankara (MVA-BN) platform, the vaccine is engineered to express three key measles virus proteins: hemagglutinin (H), fusion (F), and nucleoprotein (N). It was designed to provide a safer and potentially more immunogenic alternative to traditional live-attenuated measles vaccines, particularly for use in infants and immunocompromised individuals. Clinical development reached Phase II, where it was evaluated for safety and immunogenicity in healthy children in South Africa, but the program was subsequently discontinued.
