Overview

MVA-NP is a recombinant viral vector vaccine candidate that utilizes the Modified Vaccinia Ankara (MVA) platform to express the highly conserved internal nucleoprotein (NP) of the influenza A virus. This construct is designed to induce T-cell responses, aiming for broad protection against influenza. While MVA-NP itself is a specific construct, it is predominantly developed and studied in combination with Matrix protein 1 (M1) as the vaccine candidate MVA-NP+M1. MVA-NP+M1 has been investigated in clinical trials for its ability to boost cross-reactive T-cell responses against influenza A viruses, particularly in older adults, with the goal of circumventing immunosenescence that impairs routine influenza vaccination.
