Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MVA85A-IMX313 is a novel viral vector vaccine candidate designed to enhance immunity against tuberculosis. It is based on the modified Vaccinia Ankara (MVA) virus, which serves as a non-replicating vector expressing antigen 85A (Ag85A) from Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The IMX313 component is a molecular adjuvant—a self-assembling protein domain derived from chicken C4b-binding proteins—that enhances immunogenicity by promoting stronger antibody and T cell responses to the fused antigen. MVA85A-IMX313 aims to boost immune responses in individuals previously vaccinated with BCG, targeting improved protection against tuberculosis. Clinical trials have shown that it is well tolerated and immunogenic in adults[1][2][8].
