Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MVT-01 is a therapeutic mucosal vaccine candidate being developed by Mucovax (Mucosal Vaccine Technologies) in collaboration with Crozet BioPharma for the treatment of genital herpes caused by Herpes Simplex Virus Type 2 (HSV-2). Utilizing Mucovax's proprietary mucosal vaccine platform, MVT-01 is designed to be administered via a mucosal route to elicit both local mucosal and systemic immune responses. The primary goal of the vaccine is to reduce viral replication, shedding, and the severity of disease symptoms in individuals already infected with HSV-2. The program has received support from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
