MVX-ONCO-2 is a personalized cancer immunotherapy consisting of two components: 1. Biocompatible capsules loaded with genetically modified cells that secrete granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF), a potent immune-booster 2. Irradiated autologous patient tumor cells that serve as tumor antigens The treatment works by inducing an efficient anti-tumor immune response. The encapsulated GM-CSF-secreting cells are implanted subcutaneously at the site of tumor-cell vaccination, providing a sustained local delivery of the immunostimulatory factor over days. This approach addresses critical steps in cancer vaccination by providing both efficient priming with tumor-specific antigens and strong immunostimulatory signals. MVX-ONCO-2 is being developed for the treatment of advanced solid tumors, including chordoma, head and neck cancers, and other solid tumors.
