MVX01 is a fusion protein vaccine candidate developed by Matrivax to provide serotype-independent protection against pneumococcal infections caused by *Streptococcus pneumoniae*. The vaccine consists of epitopes from two highly conserved proteins across *S. pneumoniae* serotypes—a genetically inactivated form of the virulence factor pneumolysin (PLY-DM) and two choline binding protein A (CbpA) epitopes. By targeting these conserved antigens, MVX01 aims to stimulate an immune response that is effective across multiple bacterial serotypes, potentially overcoming limitations of current vaccines that are restricted by serotype coverage. The primary indication for MVX01 is the prevention of pneumococcal disease, including community-acquired pneumonia and meningitis.
