Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MW-301 is a small molecule inhibitor of the NLRP3 (NOD-like receptor protein 3) inflammasome, currently under development by Mwyngil Therapeutics. The NLRP3 inflammasome is a multi-protein complex that plays a critical role in the innate immune system by triggering the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as IL-1β and IL-18, in response to various danger signals. Chronic or dysregulated activation of the NLRP3 pathway is implicated in the pathogenesis of numerous inflammatory and metabolic conditions. MW-301 is being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for the treatment of obesity and chronic kidney disease (CKD), where NLRP3-mediated inflammation is thought to contribute to disease progression and metabolic dysfunction.
