Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MW-313 is a potent, selective, and systemically available oral small-molecule inhibitor of the NLRP3 (NOD-like receptor protein 3) inflammasome. Developed by Mwyngil Therapeutics, it is currently in the discovery stage for the treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and cardiovascular disease (CVD). The NLRP3 inflammasome is a cytosolic protein complex that plays a key role in the innate immune response by mediating the activation of caspase-1 and the subsequent release of pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-1β and IL-18. By inhibiting NLRP3, MW-313 aims to reduce the chronic inflammation and fibrosis associated with the progression of renal and cardiovascular conditions.
