Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MW0219 is a long-acting peptide-based dual agonist that targets both the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R) and the glucagon receptor (GCGR). Developed by Shanghai Minwei Biotechnology, it is designed for the treatment of metabolic disorders, specifically type 2 diabetes and obesity. The drug's mechanism of action combines the glucose-lowering and appetite-suppressing effects of GLP-1R activation with the energy expenditure-increasing and lipid-metabolizing properties of GCGR activation. This dual-targeting approach is intended to provide superior weight loss and glycemic control compared to traditional GLP-1 receptor mono-agonists. MW0219 is currently undergoing clinical evaluation in China.
