Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MW101 is an investigational, preclinical adipose-targeted small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutic being developed for the treatment of obesity and cardiometabolic diseases. It is designed to selectively deliver siRNA directly to adipose tissue, enabling precise silencing of a gene involved in lipolysis and lipid droplet regulation. By targeting non-incretin pathways inside fat cells, MW101 aims to promote weight loss and fat reduction while preserving lean muscle mass, without reducing food intake or causing gastrointestinal side effects typical of incretin-based therapies. Preclinical studies in non-human primates have demonstrated durable adipose target engagement after a single dose, supporting the potential for quarterly or twice-yearly dosing. First-in-human clinical trials are planned for late 2027.
