Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MW5431 is a long-acting glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist developed by Shanghai Minwei Biotechnology for the treatment of metabolic disorders, including type 2 diabetes mellitus and obesity. It is a recombinant peptide designed to mimic the action of the endogenous incretin hormone GLP-1, which regulates blood glucose levels by stimulating insulin secretion and inhibiting glucagon release in a glucose-dependent manner. Additionally, MW5431 acts on the central nervous system to increase satiety and slow gastric emptying, facilitating weight loss. The drug is currently undergoing Phase 1 clinical evaluation in China to assess its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetic profile in both diabetic and overweight/obese populations.
