Overview

MWN101 is a long-acting dual agonist of the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptors, developed by Shanghai Minwei Biotechnology. By simultaneously targeting both receptors, MWN101 aims to achieve superior weight loss and metabolic improvements compared to single-receptor agonists. The drug is primarily being developed for the treatment of obesity and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). It works by enhancing insulin secretion, suppressing glucagon release, delaying gastric emptying, and increasing satiety through central nervous system pathways. MWN101 is currently in Phase 2 clinical development in China, with trials specifically evaluating its efficacy in patients with overweight/obesity and obesity-related conditions like OSA.
