Overview

MWN110 is a long-acting, subcutaneously administered tri-agonist that targets the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP), and glucagon (GCG) receptors. Developed by Shanghai Minwei Biotechnology, the drug is designed to treat obesity and overweight by leveraging the synergistic effects of these three metabolic pathways: GLP-1 and GIP receptor activation enhances glucose-dependent insulin secretion and promotes satiety, while glucagon receptor activation increases energy expenditure and lipid metabolism. A distinguishing feature of MWN110 is its potential for extended dosing intervals; clinical evaluations are exploring both once-weekly and once-every-four-weeks administration schedules. It is currently in Phase 1 clinical development to assess its safety, tolerability, and pharmacodynamic effects on body weight and fat composition.
