Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MWX203 is a humanized monoclonal antibody developed by Shanghai Minwei Biotechnology for the treatment of dyslipidemia. It functions as a PCSK9 inhibitor, targeting the proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) protein. By binding to and inhibiting PCSK9, the drug prevents the degradation of low-density lipoprotein receptors (LDLR) on the surface of hepatocytes. This action increases the density of LDLR available to clear low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) from the bloodstream, thereby significantly reducing circulating lipid levels. MWX203 is primarily intended for patients with primary hypercholesterolemia or mixed dyslipidemia who require potent LDL-C reduction beyond standard statin therapy.
