MWX203 S1 is an investigational small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutic developed by Shanghai Minwei Biotechnology, a subsidiary of Lepu Medical, for the treatment of dyslipidemia, hyperlipidemia, and mixed dyslipidemia. It utilizes RNA interference (RNAi) to target and silence angiopoietin-like protein 3 (ANGPTL3) mRNA, thereby inhibiting the synthesis of the ANGPTL3 protein. ANGPTL3 is a key hepatocyte-secreted regulator of lipid metabolism that inhibits lipoprotein lipase and endothelial lipase; its inhibition leads to significant reductions in serum triglycerides, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and total cholesterol. Administered via subcutaneous injection, MWX203 S1 has completed Phase I clinical testing in healthy subjects and is currently in Phase II clinical trials in China.
