Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MWX205 is a monoclonal antibody designed to inhibit proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9), currently under development by Shanghai Minwei Biotechnology for the treatment of dyslipidemia. By binding to PCSK9, MWX205 prevents the degradation of low-density lipoprotein receptors (LDLR) on the surface of liver cells, thereby enhancing the clearance of LDL cholesterol from the plasma. The drug is being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials to assess its safety, tolerability, and lipid-lowering efficacy, with a focus on providing a long-acting therapeutic option for patients with hypercholesterolemia.
