MWX401 is an investigational therapeutic vaccine developed by Shanghai Minwei Biotechnology for the treatment of essential hypertension. It is designed to stimulate the patient's immune system to produce high-affinity antibodies that specifically target and neutralize Angiotensin II (Ang II), a potent vasoconstrictor in the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS). By neutralizing circulating Ang II, the vaccine prevents its binding to angiotensin receptors, thereby inhibiting vasoconstriction and reducing blood pressure.
