MYCMIs (MYC-MAX Interaction Inhibitors) are a class of small-molecule inhibitors developed by MyCural Therapeutics that target the MYC oncoprotein, a central driver in many aggressive and high-risk cancers. The mechanism of action involves disrupting the critical protein-protein interaction between MYC and its obligate dimerization partner, MAX. By preventing the formation of the MYC-MAX heterodimer, MYCMIs selectively inhibit the transcriptional activity of MYC, which is essential for the survival and proliferation of MYC-dependent tumor cells. This approach aims to provide a targeted therapy that kills cancer cells while sparing normal tissues. The program is currently in the preclinical stage of development, focusing on aggressive, high-risk tumors.
