Overview

Mycobacterium tuberculosis antigen for skin test (EM) is a diagnostic biologic developed by Ambition Biotech (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. for the detection of tuberculosis infection, including latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI). It is designed as a skin test reagent that utilizes specific antigens from *Mycobacterium tuberculosis* to elicit a delayed-type hypersensitivity (DTH) reaction upon intradermal administration. This reaction is mediated by sensitized T-lymphocytes in individuals who have been previously exposed to the pathogen. The "EM" designation refers to a specific formulation or combination of recombinant antigens, which is being evaluated in Phase II clinical trials in China to assess its safety, sensitivity, and specificity compared to existing diagnostic methods such as the EC fusion protein test, Tuberculin Purified Protein Derivative (PPD), and Interferon-Gamma Release Assays (IGRA).
